Named after the founder of Simonsig Family Winery, this pecial Cape-style blend shows an intensely deep “Persian carpet” red color, with a near-black center. Ripe plum and sweet mulberry fruit reveals the Pinotage component on the nose while the deeper, nutty, black berry fruits of the Cabernet and Merlot shine through on the palate. Luscious, ripe tannins and spicy oak provide a huge structure for the three varieties to complement each other – Pinotage, for sweet. plummy fruit structure; Cabernet Sauvignon for tannic structure and a dry finish, and Merlot fleshing out the middle palate.
